In the dark upper-level room, a young girl lay in her bed with
her eyes closed, creating thoughts; wonderful happy thoughts of a young
gentleman. She was quite peaceful although the windows rattled
continuously from the harsh gust outside. It was much too windy for a
late February evening, but the weather had become sparticle. The warm
air mixing with the cold coming off the nearby lake brought an awful
chilling wind. Even so, winter was to its end. Only one month prevented
spring from brightening the days of many. However, spring had never
ended for Rose; within her world love had blossomed. Yet this love was
more than a spring-fling - this love was deeply embedded within the
spirits of her and the one who occupied her thoughts.
Several strands of dark brown hair draped gracefully over the young
girl's resting face while a smile slowly walked across her lips. She
began imagining the gentleman smiling at her as she suddenly entered
his room.
"Rose, how did you get here?", he said in disbelief. "Through the door
silly.", she replied playfully. He stood, carefully walking up to her.
Once close, he embraced her warmly. Rose felt his bodily warmth, as if
he was suddenly holding her in her bed. "Oh, dear beautiful Rose, thank
you for coming.", the young man said holding her. The moment seemed to
stretch on for several minutes allowing the two to become lost in this
climactic embrace. “Daniel…”, Rose breathed in a whisper.
"Chris! Why is this door locked!?" Daniel immediately recognized his
mother’s voice. She then began pounding on the door, startling the
couple.
Rose's eyes popped open. The belting of the wind and the chill of the
room took over her senses once more. She sat up quickly, sending the
brown strands rapidly falling backwards. The room was still, quiet and
empty. One room away from hers, faintly the sound of a computer could
be distinguished. Rose looked around the darkness before her, confused,
"I couldn't have been dreaming......I wasn't even asleep..."
"...Amen." "Amen."
A deep sigh was released into the small room, while Daniel sat on his
bed staring at his door, anticipating an interruption. From a crack in
his window shade the sunset blazed through, casting a warm light.
"Thank you for praying with me Daniel." Rose said from the blue
carpeted floor of her own room miles away, yet basking in the same
sunlight. "Thank you my beautiful, sweet angel." Daniel replied with an
uneasiness.
He claimed many times that Rose was a true angel to him. She accepts
him as he is and gave him hope. His parents continually told him that
he was doomed to failure. His dad, Chris (from whom Daniel's first name
was taken), especially seemed to bring anxiety and depression, leaving
Daniel with a bleak outlook. But then Rose came along, accepting him,
she even gave him a new name, which strengthened him to take a new
path. Her devotion to him and unquenchable love finally opened his eyes
to the all surpassing love that the God of Heaven had for all His
creation. Now with new eyes, Daniel saw his beloved as a messenger - an
angel.
Numerous times he had spoken of her by this name, yet this time a chord
was struck between them. Rose immediately spoke out to avoid the sudden
silence, "I know the Holy Spirit can make marvelous things happen."
The flame of sunlight became brighter and brighter. "Love, something's
happening", were the few words he could muster. The light became
blinding. "Rose, are you still there?", Daniel could no longer feel the
receiver in his grasp. "I'm here", Rose replied. The firey flash
receded. Rose looked up and her eyes met with Daniel's.
In shock they both fumbled for words..
"We're...here", Rose said while Daniel continued, "...to-gether", then
realizing that it was true, Rose added, "and we're awake!"
This, unlike Rose's dream, left them more hesitant than before. Their
hands touched. "You're more solid this time love", Daniel said. Rose
didn't respond from the overwhelming joy. They smiled at each other.
In neither a room nor a building, yet not outside, they stood admiring
each others features for the first time. The Light enflamed cutting off
their view and a commanding voice called out to them. "Daughter." "Son."
Out of fear their hands clasped tightly together.
The voice was so strong, and the flaming light so powerful that the two
could not stand in this presence. Both slipped down to their knees.
With their hands still conjoined, they looked up into the shimmering
light. Held at the attention of One who had incredible power over them.
Still becoming weaker, they both were pulled to the flat surface, which
appeared to be a floor. Their tight hand-grasp unraveled as they were
laid flat.
Confused yet comforted the two lay prostrate, listening to the internal
whisper of the Light that embraced them. This embrace moved deep into
their very souls. Only a moment past and the Light, more apparent to be
the Holy Spirit, receded just as fast as it had come upon them. The
couple regained enough strength to stand. Fully erect, Rose and Daniel
stood face to face with two beings. The two beings were transparent,
but sparkled in the shimmering flame of Light. It was hard to
distinguish, since the beings floated a few inches from the floor, but
they appeared to be the same heights as Rose and Daniel.
It was difficult to define their gender for they both were so beautiful
with flowing hair, feminine but brawny. Rose was entranced by the one
that stood before her. Having never seen a spiritual being, she found
it interesting that she knew these were angels. Like a child, she
continued to inspect, especially the face, for it was like that of her
own. Daniel, however, stood in shock with a mixed mind of wanting to
leave, hold Rose's hand, cry and fight these beings all at once.
But he did none of these.
Suddenly two awesome wings spread out from the backsides of each of the
angels. A perfect summery breeze glided off of these gently moving
wings onto the earthly couple, bringing calm to each person. The angels
smiled at them in a loving manner. Within that instant Rose and Daniel
understood, but before their minds could dissect the notion, the two
angels flew straight at them and neither person could move. The Light
once more enflamed blinding them.
Rose let out a startled gasp.
Rose lay face down into the blue plush carpet with tears running down
her face. "Rose......Rose!" Daniel called repeatedly, hearing the sobs
of the young girl. Rose continued, unaware of his voice, unaware of her
surroundings. The only thing real to her at that moment was the all
consuming presence of Power that she had just experienced and the
angels she had seen. She cried out joyfully with praises unto the
Light, whom they both had known as Father. Daniel calmly held the
phone, unwilling to let his love go on alone. He waited while the
afterglow of the Light eased into natural daylight, which was now
slipping into night.
Rose finally settled into silence. "Rose..." Daniel decided to try
again. Her eyes popped open to search the room, "Daniel. Are you still
here?" "I am here, on the phone my love" Rose looked up slowly, for now
a headache had formed because of the constant flow of tears. Realizing
that she was back in her room, she looked for the source of Daniel's
voice. "Hello", she said slowly after picking up the receiver which
layed next to her elbow. "There's my beautiful angel" She smiled,
"Daniel, I love you so much!" "And I you, my beautiful, sweet
confection" She released a short giggle, still preoccupied with the
recent events. "Angel, are you alright?" Again she smiled, "Yes Daniel
I am. It's just incredible..." "I agree. I don't know what to think
except that God is far beyond anything I could imagine. And those
angels..." "Daniel, I couldn't think of it before, but those angels,
they um...they seemed so familiar". Rose ended, almost afraid to say
it. "I know my love. They were us.", Daniel completed.
It seemed like time had stopped and once again they were nowhere. Yet
this time, it was only a feeling, not a reality. The sun was still
setting and Daniel still sat upon his bed. It seemed as if nothing had
changed, yet for them nothing would ever be the same.
"Daniel, could it be....could it be that when they were flying at us?"
"Yes angel, this is how I see it." "But if the angels are within us,
does that mean that we are angels?" Daniel sat quietly considering how
to respond. Rose continued, "I mean that would explain how we were
together though it seemed impossible" "Well Angel, either way you are
still an angel to me. For you have saved me away from myself and even
more so, you have been a messenger from Father, so that I could have as
beautiful a relationship with Him as you do."
The two prayed together once more, this time feeling much more closer
to Him than ever before. The prayer lasted until the sun set. Within
their minds they held the image of kneeling side-by-side. At the close
of the prayer, all their restraints and fears vanished. One thing that
did not vanish, however, was a strong sense of being together. "Daniel,
it's so wonderful that God is allowing us to be close like this."
Daniel smiled, feeling as close to Rose as he had when standing in the
Light, holding her hand. "Dear sweet, beautiful Rose, I feel the same
way and as long as God is with us, we should never worry about the
earthly distance between us." Daniel's words added to Rose's faith.
Right then his angelic spirit leaned in and kissed the lips of Rose's
angelic spirit.
